Penance, sometimes referred to as Confession or Reconciliation, is the sacrament of God’s mercy and forgiveness. Because of sin and wrong-doing, feelings of shame and embarrassment often interfere with making Confession and receiving absolution.
Such feelings are normal human emotions and these don’t have to come between you and Jesus in this important Sacrament. God’s grace and mercy are larger than any sin anyone can commit, no matter how horrible.
Confessions are made in a private, conversational setting.
