Few months after the Soup Kitchen Project started, the Parish extended the project to the Kanda overpass. The Under the Bridge Project emanated from His Holiness Pope Francis’ declaration of 2016 as Jubilee Year of Mercy. The decision was necessitated following the discovery of a group of homeless men and women who have been living under the Kanda overpass and were unable to come to CTK Soup Kitchen for food.
Out of necessity to help the poor, the Parish provides support to the underprivileged and the vulnerable. The project provides food and other basic needs such as clothing to beneficiaries three times a week; Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Under the Bridge Project has served 7,000 plates of food and celebrated special occasions like the Yuletide with a 2016 Christmas party.
Christ the King Parish, Parishioners and the P.P.C. are grateful to all Parishioners and non-Parishioners and institutions for supporting the “Under the Bridge Project”.
